| Chrysalis Productions is a New Jersey based
501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to the production of human
interest, educational, historical and/or socially relevant documentary films
designed to inform and enlighten the general public.
Founded in 2003 by Sandra Longo, Chrysalis completed its first feature documentary, What's So Funny? in May of 2004. The film, which serves as an educational tool for potential bypass surgery candidates, their families and the health care professionals who support them, won the Golden Nugget Award for Best Feature Documentary at the Golden, CO Film Festival in 2005 as well as an Award for Excellence from the Berkeley, CA Video and Film Festival in 2004. Chrysalis utilizes a predominantly volunteer workforce to stand by its philosophy of providing training and educational opportunities for individuals seeking an entre into the world of documentary filmmaking. In 2005, the company instituted a grant program, which provides finishing funds to both emerging and established documentary filmmakers who display a kinship with its overall mission. Documentary subjects the company plans to address in the future include international adoption and a look at life for those age eighty and beyond. | |
